  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  • Add vanilla and then eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  • Fold in M&M’s and chocolate chips with a spatula.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly soft.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

Notes

Chill the Dough (Optional): If your kitchen is warm, chilling the dough for 30 minutes helps the cookies hold their shape.
Extra Festive Look: Press a few extra M&M’s on top of the cookies right before baking for picture-perfect cookies.
Batch Baking: Use two baking sheets so you can rotate batches in and out of the oven without waiting.
Avoid Overbaking: Remove the cookies when the centers look just set. They’ll firm up as they cool.
