Cuisine American
- 1 box brownie mix
- Ingredients listed on the brownie box usually eggs, oil, and water
- 1 tub white icing or homemade equivalent
- Crushed candy canes
- Silver star sprinkles
Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
Prepare and bake the brownie mix according to package instructions.
Let cool completely, then lift from pan using parchment paper.
Freeze the brownies for 10 minutes to firm them up.
Use round cookie cutters in three sizes to cut sets of circles.
Fit a piping bag with a large tip and fill with icing.
Place the largest brownie circle on a flat surface and pipe icing on top. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
Add the medium circle, pipe more icing, and sprinkle again.
Top with the smallest circle, add icing, peppermint, and finish with a silver star.
Repeat with remaining brownies and chill briefly before serving. Enjoy!
Use a Chilled Brownie Base: Chilling helps the brownies stay firm and makes cutting easier, especially if they’re extra fudgy.
Go Light on the Peppermint: Too much crushed candy can overwhelm the sweetness - a sprinkle is plenty.
Decorate Before Serving: For the freshest look, assemble the trees shortly before serving. The icing will stay fluffy, and the peppermint pieces will stay crisp.
Use a Piping Tip with Good Definition: A large star tip, such as 2D, gives the icing that pretty “tree branch” look and makes the dessert extra festive.
